That was the comment that my colleague made about me during the week. The conclusion was derived after a conversation with him on shopping. It started when he expressed that he did not understand why girls like to shop so much and asked if I shop. I replied him that I would at most window shop, unless I have things in mind to buy.

Colleague:
Me: 是啊
Colleague:
Colleague (with a shock look): 你真的很不像女生耶。

That was how he reached that conclusion. Oh well.. I guess I just don’t have the ‘flair’ to shop and spend money on myself. Perhaps, it was the way I was brought up. My biggest expenditure on myself so far, with the exception of necessities, is a Carlo Rino bag and I bought it at a 40% discount (around $50-$70), after eying it for about 3-4 months. Even at 40% discount, I took 2 weeks to convince myself to make the purchase. Gosh..

It has not been only once since my dad asked me not to be so hard on myself, but I just couldn’t I guess. The mere thought of buying a $80 top/bottom sends a shiver down my spine. It was just me I guess…

My colleague was showing us her Prada bag the other day and it cost around $600, which was about one quarter of her monthly salary.. $600 on a bag.. Wow.. To me, there wasn’t any real difference, apart from the logo on the bag. Oh well, that’s me.

Perhaps, my dad is right, I should not be too hard on myself. Perhaps, it’s not about not spending money; I guess it’s more about 把钱花在刀口上, spending the money at the right places (which I deem them to be.. hahaha)… The economy needs a balance of people and it definitely won’t survive if it depends solely on people like me. Hahaha…
