So here am I, after 1 year of θͺζζΎι, I am back to face the reality – getting a job. It’s my official 3rd job hunt, twice after graduation and once during my stint with NUS.
Quite a number of my friends have commented that it is not easy to find a job these days. After all, after an MBA, we would like to have an increase in our salary, as well as perhaps a different job role. However, switching role is not easy, as more senior positions require experience. With news that Singapore’s economy is not performing strongly, this further dampens the job market. Looking back at my first job search when I graduated from SMU at the end of 2008 at the aftermath of the Lehman Brothers crisis, it seems that the timing of my graduation tends to coincide with… Opps π
Finding a job is always a tacky task. Job scope vs Advancement vs Company (industry, environment, culture, brand name, location) vs Pay vs Security. Which one should I prioritize? There is nothing perfect in the world. To me, all are important, esp job scope, but am I going to hold out till I get that ideal role, which probably not hire me or I probably need to be jobless for a long time, or should I be realistic and compromise to do something which I have experience in? These are questions that I have to answer, but I do not have the answers now. The the moment I am kind of in between, replying to job ads with my ideal job as well as those which I have experience in. However, as time passes on, I think I will tend more and more towards the latter, as I know I cannot tolerate myself to be unemployed for too long. Urgh π
