如果你是医生,你会给好好的病人MC吗?
Visited a doctor on my way back home today at around 7:10pm due to a sore throat which has plagued me for much of the day. Given that I only need to fork out $5 and there was no one queuing in the clinic then, I decided it was no harm to visit one. The whole consultation took only around 5 mins, with the doctor asking if I had headache, fever, running nose, body ache or cough, to which I gave a nil reply. After examining my throat, she declared that I was perfectly ok (including my throat) and decided to give me some lozenges. As I opened the door and prepared to leave the room, she suddenly stopped me and asked if I required a MC. I went ahead with it without much thinking and then went out of the room. Not long later, the doctor appeared at the counter hastily and asked if I needed the MC for today or tomorrow. It was only on my way home when I was puzzled by why she asked me if I required a MC. After all, she said that there was nothing wrong with me.
Her lax attitude was quite a surprise to me. I thought it was rather fundamental for doctors to at least take the patient’s temperature. Besides, isn’t it weird for them to issue MCs for patients whom they deemed are perfectly ok? Hmm… Maybe she thought I went to her for a MC, which was so wrong as I am not a person who will do that and first of all, I don’t even like to visit a doctor.. Maybe I was wrong about what doctors should do.. Maybe I expect too much from doctors… Hmm… And what should I do with the unexpected MC? I don’t like to take MCs, especially when I’m supposed to be perfectly fine…
