First moments:
– April 2011 marked a memorable time for us, for it was our first time touring in Europe own time, own pace and own schedule. Planning was a massive, but enjoyable, task and we were fortunate that things panned out quite smoothly. We went to 4 cities, Vienna, Salzburg, Bratislava and Munich during our 10-day trip. Weather was good, food was nice and the scenery was even better. We have seen the Alps, visited the castle and palaces and wandered in the beautiful old towns and cities.
– 2011 is also the year when I started my first business trips and I went on 2 (KL and Munich (for the 2nd time!))
– Decided to do something different and engage in something active, I got an online deal to learn to swing the club and hit the little white ball (aka golf). After 7 lessons, I finally got a proficiency certificate (which lasts for 1 year) though my ball tends to fly away from my target. Hahaha…
贴心 moment:
Does a typical guy stranger wait with someone for a taxi and only leave after she board the taxi? I never knew there was one – until I met one. It was one night in Oct, at around 10pm. Leaving office, I met this guy, whom I have never seen before, in the lift who was working late as well. We chatted for awhile on the way down and while exiting the building. I thought our conversation would end there – I thought, since I had decided to take a cab home, while he wanted to take a MRT ride. However, he decided to wait with me for a taxi and only proceed his journey after having seen me boarding a cab. It was the first time I have met a guy like that. Though we exchanged names and looked at each other for a little while during that short first exchange, little did I expect he would have remembered me – for I have almost forgotten who he was. Two months later, we were having a sale in our building which he came patronizing. I was surprised he could recognise me and even had one of the characters of my name correct. It was only then I realised who he was. Haha.. Since then, I have not met him anymore, but it was really nice of him 🙂
Fearful moments:
If you ask any person familiar with finance on his thoughts about 2011, probably one of these key words will pop up: PIIGS, inflation, euro debt, unemployment, US debt, downturn and crisis. 2011 has been a roller coaster for the markets and 2012 will continue to be so. What will happen to the world economy, specifically Europe, we shall await.
Wet moments:
Singaporeans will also remember 2011 as the year of rain, with unusual frequent rains poured onto this island towards the end of the year, and floods, or flash floods to be precise. The floods continued from 2010 when it was the first time in 50 years Singaporeans experienced flooding. Torrent rains brought flooding in the low lying areas, most notably Orchard Road. Even the road in front my office was filled with water. However, my first hand encounter with the floods was not at my office, but at Orchard Road. Days before Christmas, I was walking along the shopping belt while rain came pouring for a few hour, resulting in the accumulation of water along some stretches to come to ankle-deep and my shoes and lower half of my jeans were completely wet that I had to buy another pair of shoes.
Inspired moments:
