My old blog platform crashed, thus I have decided to move it to a new one, the more established WordPress. Getting this thing up and running again felt like a great achievement for me, as redoing the layout and the codes (esp php codes) seemed a bit rusty for me, for I have not touched those since I last moved my blog here, which was in 2009-2010. Haha.. This has been a costly, and perhaps most 奢侈 hobby of mine, with a yearly cost of around $110 for the webhosting and domain. The thought of closing it down did not cross my mind however, and my “migration” this time round proved me correct.
Migrating post-by-post could have been a great pain. However, it was also an opportunity for me to revisit my old posts, and in particular my old self. It did put a smile on my face at times, for some of my posts are really cute. Haha.
One thing that struck me was the trend I had for my posts. At different stages of life, different things mattered for me – LFC, studies, self-reflection, snippets of my life, songs, tv serials and even current affairs. Haha.. Sometimes I was amazed by how childish I was too. LOL. Oh wells, 每个人都有过去. Hahaha.
I was also amazed by my frankness in my posts. I guess this makes the blog personal and a nice read even after a long time has past.
It also dawned on me how much I neglected my blog for the past 2-3 years. I used to blog almost every month before that, but 2-3 years ago, when my life started to become more hectic (or I have become lazier), I only blogged a handful of posts each year. Perhaps it is time now to restart the habit of writing, after all, I have spent so much effort to migrate it to a new platform.
My first blog was called “deep thoughts”, in a period of time when I tried to be knowledgeable and mature. “Tried” is the key word. Hahha.. As I moved from diaryland.com to OS3 and to here, it was a time when I was trying to find my 价值.. From my time to uni to my working life, who am I and what should I be doing, trying to “Find my way in a chaotic world”. As for now, not that I have found my way through the chaotic world, but I just decided that I need a new name to mark a new beginning for this blog. My inspiration came from the name of an app in my new HTC phone. “Scribbles” seems like an apt name for it as I have been scribbling my thoughts. Hopefully I will continue to scribble more frequent.
