World Cup is here. Yeah.. Well, there isn’t much excitement in me yet, to be honest. One of the reasons is because I don’t subscribe to the World Cup channel. Why? It’s because it isn’t economical. I can only watch a few matches, mostly the 9pm ones and the weekend ones. Hence, it doesn’t justify the $15 that I will be paying as I didn’t fully utilise it. Besides, Mediacorp will be showing the most impt matches (ie semis and final) for free. If I were Starhub, I will launch a pay-per-match package. For example, $1 per match. I think people will still be willing to pay to watch, even though it’s more expensive if one watches all the matches (64 matches in total is it?). Furthermore, this like of system will also appeal to people who opt to watch certain matches only. So why not? Maybe in 2010, Starhub can have the 2 systems working together..
Another reason why I am not watching the World Cup is because I don’t support any particular team. England? Nah.. There’s too much hype and though there’s much talent in there, they won’t go far. Recent performances against Paraguay and T&T prove this. Sven is not one of the best tactical masters and I don’t think he will get the best out of the really talented squad.
Just for a fun, I shall give my predictions for this World Cup, after every round, even though I am not very familiar with the national teams π
