Didn’t have time to comment on World Cup. Time seems to fly when one is working..

I got my predictions all wrong for the final. So, it’s Italy vs France and Italy won it. Initially wanted to watch that match and even set my alarm, only for me to think that my sleep is more precious and decided to skip the finals. I have read up on the finals and I shan’t comment too much as my perception is based on what I read.

However, I do agree that Materazzi actions are quite deliberate and Zidane just could not hold his anger for that moment. However, I think it is not that right to strip Italy off the trophy, as the match would have most probably gone to penalties anyway if the incident had not occurred, just as how this has ended. Yes, maybe Zidane would take the penalty that David Trezgate missed, but I don’t think this will happen, as Trezegate would most probably take a penalty too. There are endless possibilities and there is just no point discussing them as what has been decided has been decided. So why strip Italy of its rightful trophy? I think a better solution is to take Materazzi’s medal away if he is found guilty. It would be more than adequate to “punish” him. Yes, though France’s loss would not have been compensated in this way, but are they in a position to blame Materazzi, or even the Italians. I don’t think so. They had every chance to win it then, had they practised more penalties. If France had won the spot kick, would their fans still cry “foul”? Obviously not. The thing in football is that you have to make do in whatever circumstances you are in.

France should look at themselves. They have only themselves to blame. Had they practised more penalties, the World Cup would be theirs, with or without Zidane.
